At The Sportsman’s Shop, we’re proud of our heritage as the oldest gun shop in Lancaster County. Since 1954, our family-owned business has grown from a small retail space in New Holland, PA into a full-service firearms destination, but our commitment to knowledgeable, friendly, personal service has never changed. We’re members of this community, and we take that seriously: as active supporters of local youth shooting sports activities, partners with organizations like the NRA and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and as a shop where every customer — beginner or experienced, man or woman — is genuinely welcome.
Today, The Sportsman’s Shop serves customers from across Lancaster, Chester, Dauphin, York, Delaware, Lebanon, and Berks counties, and we regularly welcome visitors from Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and Delaware who make the trip for our indoor shooting range, our firearms training programs, and a retail selection they can’t find closer to home.
Our shop carries new and used firearms, ammunition, holsters, and a wide range of shooting accessories. We’re also a licensed Class III / NFA dealer with an SOT license, which means we can handle suppressor purchases, including in-house fingerprinting and photos, without a trip to the police station or a separate passport photo appointment. It’s a capability that’s genuinely hard to find, and one we’re proud to offer our customers.

Recognition & Industry Standing
We’ve been honored to earn recognition both locally and nationally over the years. The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the firearms industry’s leading trade organization, named The Sportsman’s Shop “Retailer of the Year.” Our founder also served on the NSSF board for several years, representing independent retailers at the national level.
Jessica Keffer has appeared on Fox & Friends and contributed to national media coverage on topics including social media advertising restrictions affecting the firearms industry. She has also spoken at NSSF industry conferences and authored content for NSSF’s national platform on topics like hiring and building a strong retail team.
We don’t share this to brag. We share it because we think you deserve to know who you’re doing business with, and because we believe the experience you have in our store should reflect everything that recognition represents.
Our Team
We’re particular about who we hire. Every person on our floor is someone we’d trust to help a first-time gun owner, answer a technical question from an experienced shooter, and put a customer who’s never set foot in a gun shop at ease. Every hire is someone we’d trust to represent everything we stand for.
Our firearms training is conducted entirely by our in-house certified staff, not outside contractors. Our primary instructor has a 95% student rebooking rate, with students returning for lesson after lesson as they build their skills from beginner fundamentals through advanced techniques such as cover and concealment, drawing from the holster, and low-light shooting.
