Firearms Training
At The Sportsman’s Shop, we take firearm safety seriously. That’s why we’re proud to offer a variety of firearm training classes designed to educate firearm owners and enthusiasts to be safe, competent, and comfortable with firearms.
One of our most popular courses is the National Shooting Sports Foundation’s (NSSF) First Shots course for pistols and rifles. This comprehensive course is perfect for beginners who want to learn the fundamentals of shooting and firearm safety. The NSSF First Shots course covers everything from proper stance and grip to firearm maintenance and storage.
In addition to the NSSF First Shots course, we offer private one-on-one coaching sessions with our experienced instructors. These sessions are perfect for individuals who want personalized attention and instruction to improve their shooting skills.
We also offer a constantly changing array of specialty classes and seminars for shooters of all skill levels.

First Shots Pistol
Goal: To provide an introduction to handguns, firearm safety and function and marksmanship.
Topics Covered:
- Firearms Safety and Storage
- Handgun Types
- Marksmanship Fundamentals (Stance, Grip, Sight Alignment/Sight Picture, Trigger press & Follow Through)
- Skills and Safety Practice in the Classroom
- Live Fire with One-on-One Instruction.
Private Lessons
These sessions are perfect for someone who would prefer to learn in a one-on-one environment! These sessions are customizable to the students needs and available for pistol, rifle & shotgun.
Customizable Topics Include:
- Applying shooting fundamentals (Stance, Grip, Sight Alignment/Picture, Trigger Press & Follow Through) to your personal firearm
- Receive help selecting a firearm to purchase
- Learn proper cleaning & maintenance techniques for your firearm
Lessons include a combination of classroom & range time – again completely customizable to the students needs!
